Reston, Va. – April 13, 2011 – L-3 STRATIS is pleased to announce that Bernard (Bernie) Elero has been appointed as its Senior Vice President for Strategic Development. In this role, Elero will oversee strategic development, and mergers and acquisitions for STRATIS. He will also lead L-3 STRATIS’ account executive organization.

Elero’s 25+ year of experience includes executive roles with Cobham Defense Systems and Raytheon Company. At Cobham, in his role as Executive Vice President for Business Development, Sales, and Strategy, Elero focused his energies on strategic development and acquisitions. He also led the company’s successful capture of more than $2.5 Billion in competitive new business.

At Raytheon, as Vice President of Business Development, Intelligence and Information Systems, Elero headed up a $3 Billion unit that specialized in intelligence, information systems, and technology. Under his leadership, the organization expanded its foothold in intelligence systems, and strengthened its strategic partnerships, fueling growth into new, related markets.

Elero’s leadership background also includes Titan Group, a legacy L-3 company; Harris Technical Services Corporation; Lockheed Martin Missiles & Space; and General Electric.

Elero holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of Pittsburgh and a Masters of Business Administration in finance from Eastern Michigan University.

With this appointment, Elero’s predecessor in the strategic development position, Dr. Bruce Burton, has become Deputy to the President of L-3 STRATIS. In this role, Burton will help oversee L-3 STRATIS’ day-to-day operations and enhance the organization’s management practices.
